Mountain Manners
Mountain Manners
Your Responsibility Guide at GoTrek Camps
The mountains welcome everyone, but they reward only those who respect them. “Mountain Manners” is our simple guide to help you explore responsibly — protecting nature, the local community, and your fellow travellers.
1. Respect Nature — Leave No Trace
Carry back your wrappers, dispose waste in bins, and avoid disturbing plants, trails, or water bodies. What you bring into the mountains must return with you.
2. Follow Safety Instructions
Your guide is trained for terrain, weather, and emergencies — listening to them ensures your safety and enhances your experience.
3. Be a Good Neighbour
Mountains echo — keep noise low, respect silence, allow others to enjoy peace, and treat villagers, travellers and wildlife kindly.
4. Move Mindfully
Walk carefully near riverbanks, bonfire areas, slopes, and uneven trails. Avoid trekking alone without informing staff.
5. Bring Only What’s Needed
Avoid bulky luggage, valuables, or restricted items. Travelling light keeps you comfortable and supports eco-friendly movement.
6. Consume Responsibly
Alcohol, speakers, or activities affecting the environment are permitted only where campsite rules allow. Our goal is harmony — not disruption.
7. Ask Before You Click
Respect personal and cultural boundaries — take permission before photographing staff, villagers, or private spaces.
8. Care for Community
Support locals — enjoy Himachali food, handmade items, and services. Your travel helps sustain livelihoods.
9. Speak Up for Safety
If you notice injury, hazard, or rule violation — inform our team immediately. Safety is shared responsibility.
Travel gently — mountains remember how you treat them. Respect the land, the people, and your fellow trekkers, and the Himalayas will reward you with peace and wonder.
